Lori Lesante received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work in 1997 from College Misericordia (now Misericordia University). She interned at Catholic Social Services for two years in Wilkes Barre under the direction of Ron Evans. While in college she also volunteered with the Big Brother/Big Sister Program.
Lori graduated from Misericordia in May of 1997 and was chosen to be the Director of Services for the Hazleton Blind Association in June of 1997. In 2000, Mrs. Lesante became the President/CEO. She started a camp for blind and vision impaired youth in 2004. The program has grown to include several counties and partnerships. In 2014, Lori was able to start a low vision clinic to help those who are in need of low vision evaluations. In the summer of 2014 Mrs. Lesante began a new summer day camp for blind and vision impaired youth, ages five thru eight.
Lori is very proud to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. She received a PEARL Award for her excellence in content marketing, and she was a 2002 graduate of Leadership Hazleton.
Lori enjoys being able to help others, whether it is teaching a child, helping an adult, or caring for an animal, Mrs. Lesante feels very rewarded in making even the smallest difference in another’s life. Every day is a new learning experience. Lori hopes to inspire and teach the individuals she serves, as much as they inspire and teach her every day.
Mrs. Lesante has a very supportive husband and a beautiful daughter, who both share the joy of helping others.
